What is the potential impact if this issue is not resolved?
If this issue is not resolved, there will be a massive impact on our environment. Firstly, we are using too much stuff, and we’re running out fast. This is called Natural Resource Exploitation. Trees are being chopped down, mountains are being blown up for metals, we’re using up water, and wiping out animals. In the past 3 decades, ⅓ of natural resources have been consumed. We are undermining the planets ability to provide for us. If we keep going at this rate, we’re going to run out of resources, and then where will we be? Planned and perceived obsolescence means that we are taking more from the Earth than we need to, and it’s becoming too much.
Besides the loss of resources, planned and perceived obsolescence is also creating unnecessary waste that is hard to dispose of. Many different toxins are being put into different products, and one way of disposing these products is to burn them. This releases the toxins into the atmosphere, which is adding to global warming and destroying the planet. There is also the other method of disposal, which is to bury it. This is terrible for the Earth and is going to come back to bite us someday. Planned and perceived obsolescence needs to stop, or else the Earth is going to be destroyed and what will it all be for? A slightly larger profit.
Planned and perceived obsolescence is going to kill our planet and it needs to stop as soon as possible.
